BSA A7 Star Twin/Shooting Star. . . There were two versions of the A7, the original 495 cc (30.2 cu in) version, and an improved 497 cc (30.3 cu in) version launched in 1950. Although its name was changed to the Star Twin and later the Shooting Star the BSA A7 continued in production with minor modifications until 1961.

Star Twin engine number were ZA7S-101 on for 1949 & 50, AA7S-101 on for 1951 & 52 and BA7S-101 on for 1953 & 54. The standard A7 had a similar engine numbering system but the "S" was omitted. Both models used the same frames which were numbered ZA7S-101 on from 1949 to 52 and BA7S-101 on for 1953 & 54. Incidentally, the Plunger A10 also used.
