The real Vera was built for the movie "Showtime" and heavily modified for Firefly. The base gun used was a Russian SAIGA auto-shotgun. Since I cannot legally own a Saiga in my country (and there are currently no airsoft replicas available) my build will be based on a Denix AK47 replica, which has a very similar receiver.

Vera is a heavily modified Saiga shotgun. So if you can ahold of an airsoft version, you can modify into a Vera prop. ^^. Try looking for STL files. Someone has to have made one, after that just find a kind person with a 3D printer. I've just watched that episode (Our Mrs Reynolds) less than half an hour ago!
